Lessons from the UK on largescale housing estate renewal and the opportunities for Australia
Kate Cavanough will present insights from her Churchill Fellowship research on estate regeneration in the UK. Drawing on site visits and conversations across more than 50 housing renewal and redevelopment projects in several UK cities, her work explores longterm stewardship, participatory design, delivery models, and the role of housing providers in creating resilient, mixed tenure neighbourhoods, with lessons for the future of social housing and regeneration in Australia.
